Samples of Liz Scherer's work
Websites, logos, brochures, posters, illustration, and the occasional April Fool's joke — three decades of design work, plus the ceramics, fiber, goldsmithing, and drawing that came before and alongside it. Iridess, LLC has wound down into retirement; this page is the record.
Website and printed materials for the trails of Big Canoe
See the live site: bigcanoetrails.com
To address the need for a comprehensive and easy to use online resource for residents and visitors to access and enjoy the trail system in Big Canoe, I created the site from scratch on the Squarespace platform. I wrote all the copy and provided the vast majority of the images. I designed the brochure in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, and keep updating it as needed and having it printed at a print shop for the Big Canoe community.
I also created and update the 43-inch-square posters for the kiosks at the parks, 9 parks in total. In addition, I design informational all-weather signs, such as one that incorporates a piece of a mid-1800s sawmill gear. I used a stock image of such machinery and edited it in Adobe Photoshop for the sign, composed the wording and provided a QR code that links to the article I wrote about the mill ruins.
As head of the 50+ person volunteer group that builds, maintains and enhances the 25+ miles of trails in Big Canoe, I set up a system of tracking the work done by the team using forms that populate Google Sheets, embedded in a dashboard page so the Director of Operations and the General Manager of Big Canoe have the information accessible at any time.
MartinLogan audiophile brochure

This was done in collaboration with audiophile husband Jonathan Foulkes for the MartinLogan Forum as an April Fool's joke in 2019. The high production values of the brochure, along with sufficiently believable material, successfully fooled many MartinLogan owners into inquiring about this new product — including attempts to place orders at dealers. The marketing team at MartinLogan was impressed.
Work done for Evenroute
I designed the logo for their IQrouter product and created the product's configuration pages in Bootstrap with extensive CSS customization. I also put together their website and all the artwork on it, created a large collection of Facebook ads, as well as icons, email ads, technical diagrams and even artwork for a wraparound mug.

Websites and mobile demos for AutoCruitment
Examples of mini websites I set up for AutoCruitment's client clinical trials. The client provided some photographs or artwork and I incorporated it into graphical elements suitable for the web, then set up the mini websites in Squarespace. Mobile demos were done in Adobe Illustrator. My medical background and experience in life sciences came in handy for many of the projects, and for versions translated to other languages, my fluency in French and Spanish was useful.
Some mini-sites were built directly on AutoCruitment's server in lightweight, hand-coded HTML and CSS. Two are preserved here as archived reproductions, working navigation and all: The Primrose Study · The Engage-11 Study
Another project for AutoCruitment
Website done from scratch in WordPress for a creatine screening research institution, starting with the client's photos of children, then creating custom banners for each page. I created the illustrations across the website too.
